Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma will be sweared in today on 15 Dec 2023. He is a first time MLA and has won from the Sanganer assembly seat. Prior to the swearing in ceremony, he was observed seeking the blessings of his father.

The Rajasthan government issued a press release informing about the three people who will be sworn an oath today.

The people who will be sweared in today by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra are CM Bhajan Lal, and the Deputy CM Diya Kumari and Deputy CM Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa.

We accurately predicted that Former CM Vasundhara Raje was not to be elected as the new CM possibly due to anti-incumbency against her and allegations of corruption, ties with former Congress CM Ashok Gehlot and the accusations of Hansraj Meena.

The BJP secured a significant seat number of 115 with the ruling Congress party securing 69 seats.

He took the blessings of his father and Acharya Mridul Shastri before swearing in.

Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa who hails as an MLA from Dudu assembly seat has been declared as the Deputy CM of Rajasthan along with CM Bhajan Lal Sharma and deputy CM Diya Kumari on 12 Dec 2023 after a party meeting between MLAs and observers sent by the BJP Central Leadership.

Prem Chand Bairwa was born to Ram Chandra. He is married to Narayani Devi and has a son and a daughter.

Diya Kumari has been who was in race for Rajasthan CM has been appointed new deputy CM of Rajasthan along with Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new Chief Minister. She hails as an MLA from the Vidhyanagar Assembly constituency.

Personal Details

Diya Kumari born on 30 January 1971 was born to Congress leader Sawai Bhawani Singh who was also a decorated army officer. She is the grand daughter of Man Singh, the last ruler of Jaipur Princely state.

In her affidavit with the election commission, she stated that she was not married at the time of filing the document.

As of 6 November 2023, there were no criminal charges against her.

Bhajan Lal Sharma of the BJP has been selected as the new Rajasthan CM by the BJP Central Observers and BJP MLAs of Rajasthan.

Bhajan Lal Sharma hails as MLA from Sanganer assembly constituency and has won by 1,45,162 votes and with a margin of 48,081 votes.

He is 58 years old.

Details of Political Career

Bhajan Lal Sharma has been a senior BJP leader in Rajasthan and has served as the State BJP’s General Secretary for four times.

He has also been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of BJP.

Kailash Choudhary is the Lok Sabha member from Barmer, Rajasthan and there is a possibility that he could be the next Chief Minister of the state after security arrangements were increased at his house. It was also reported that we was called to Jaipur by Central BJP observer Rajnath Singh.

However, by the late afternoon Bhajan Lal Sharma (भजन लाल शर्मा) was chosen as the CM with Diya Kumari (दीया कुमारी) and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa (प्रेम चंद बैरवा) as Deputy CMs.

Kailash Choudhary was born on 20 Sep 1973 in Baytu, Barmer district of Rajasthan to father Taga Ram and Mother Chuki Devi.

He is married to 08 Dec 1992 to Rupon Devi and has two sons.

Vasundhara Raje has emerges as a strong figure in Rajasthan politics. However, she is less likely to become the CM of Rajasthan due to several reasons.

However, the decisions of the BJP central leadership and party dynamics could allow her to remain on the post of CM till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

What went Against Vasundhara Raje?

1. The accusations on her son Dushyant Singh that he forcibly kept some MLAs in a resort.
2. Her confrontations with the BJP central leadership particularly Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
3. The anti-incumbency against her in 2018 elections were slogans were allegedly raised against her “Modi तुझसे बैर नहीं, Vasundhara तेरी खैर नहीं“.
4. A political baggage with her which has secured a negative image in the state of Rajasthan.
5. She is was reported in media to have collaborated with the former CM Ashok Gehlot to save his government from an imminent collapse.

The 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections saw 8 independent candidates winning the elections in a assembly which is going to have 200 seats.

Though the number seems insignificant when compared with the Bharatiya Janata Party (115 members), it becomes significant when the party need a 2/3 majority for special bills in the assembly.

Why Independent MLAs Matter?

It has been reported that Vasundhara Raje appears not to be the first choice of BJP for Rajasthan’s CM. As Raje had conducted a meeting of 25 MLAs at her residence in a display of power. Her absencemight bring down the BJP’s from 115/199* to 90/200, a shortage of 11 seats to cross the majority mark of 101.

If Raje-BJP relations go south, these 8 independent MLAs become very critical in retaining power for the BJP.
